The father of the nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was born on 17 March 1920 in the Gopalganj District. His father’s name was Sheikh Lutfur Rahman and his mother’s name was Sayera Khatun. From the very childhood, he was a politically aware person and wanted to work for the welfare of society. As our country was under British colonial rule, he always tried to save people from oppression. After completing his secondary education from Gopalganj Mission High School, he got admitted into Kolkata Islamic College and achieved a B.A degree in 1947. After that, he joined politics and as the Indian subcontinent was divided into two parts in 1947, named as India and Pakistan, he became the voice of the mass people of Bangladesh (former East Pakistan). This is why he had to face the anger of the ruling force and went to jail several times. But he didn’t stop working for the people. In the 1970 general election, he got the majority vote but was abstained from forming the govt. Just before the Liberation War of Bangladesh, he spoke in a gathering at Race Course in front of millions of people and which is considered as the declaration of liberation. After that, the Bengali people fought for nine months to achieve victory over the Pakistani occupation force. For his tremendous effort and influence in our liberation, he is known as the father of the nation. This year is going to be the 100th anniversary of his birthday and the govt is going to celebrate this year with glory and enormous arrangements. This celebration will last for one year up to 26 March 2021 which will be the 50th anniversary of our independence. Govt has already opened a portal where everything regarding Mujib Borsho will be displayed and it is very much enriched in contents. Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh is being decorated for this celebration and all the govt offices will be decorated. The countdown is already going on and the govt is planning for the largest celebration ever. Leaders and delegates from all over the world will be invited to join this celebration and it will continue for one year. Cultural and other programs will also be arranged to focus on Mujib Borsho and the Government has decided to recall the glorious memories of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman back. In a word, it is going to be the biggest celebration ever happening in Bangladesh for such a long time. Everyone will be celebrating this Mujib Borsho with pride and happiness.
